Alexa Carson has a PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto (2026). Her SSHRC and OGS-funded dissertation was entitled “Looking After our Seniors: How Immigrant and Non-immigrant Families in Canada Experience and Make Sense of Later Life Care.” She was awarded the 2023 Margaret Clark best graduate student paper prize by the Association for Anthropology, Gerontology and the Life Course (AAGE).
Alexa’s expertise cross-cuts the sociological areas of aging, family care, migration, social policy, and qualitative research. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences, and her recent peer-reviewed publications include:

Alexa worked with the Centre for Global Social Policy in various capacities from 2019-2024, and was the Lead Research Assistant for the Canada team with the Care Economies in Context Project from 2022-2024.
