Congratulations to Alexa Carson, recipient of 2023 Margaret Clark graduate student paper prize

CGSP PhD candidate Alexa Carson received the 2023 Margaret Clark best graduate student paper prize by the Association for Anthropology, Gerontology and the Life Course (AAGE).

Congratulations to Alexa Carson, recipient of the 2023 Margaret Clark Best Graduate Student Paper Prize. The Margaret Clark prize is awarded annually to two students — one graduate student and one undergraduate student. The award recognizes exemplary work in the “multidisciplinary study of sociaocultural gerontology and medical anthropology.”

Alexa’s winning paper is entitled “The unrecognized influence of class and housing: Intergenerational living and family senior care among Latin American and Caribbean immigrants in Canada.” The paper discusses the intersections between Canada’s housing crisis and intergenerational family care for seniors among Latin American and Caribbean immigrants in the Greater Toronto Area.
