Haejoo Chung is Professor of Health and Social Policy at Korea University, where she also serves as Director of the Institute of Health Policy and Management. Her research examines how political choices, welfare-state institutions, labour markets, and the organization of health and social care shape population health and health equity. Her current work focuses on health justice, the politics of health policy, integrated health and social care, and smart healthy cities.

She was trained as a pharmacist at Seoul National University and received her PhD in Health and Social Policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research in political science at the University of Toronto with fellowship support from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research–Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (CIHR-IHSPR).

She is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Health Politics and Co-Chair of the International Political Science Association’s Research Committee on the Politics of Health Policy.
