Valeria Esquivel Economist, Gender Specialist Gender, Equality and Diversity & ILOAIDS Branch - ILO
Valeria Esquivel has recently joined the International Labour Office to work at the Gender, Equality and Diversity & ILOAIDS Branch, based in Geneva. Previously, Valeria was Research Coordinator on Gender and Development at UNRISD, where her research focused primarily on the care economy and care policies. Before joining the UN, Valeria developed a long academic career as feminist economist, publishing extensively on labour, macroeconomic and social policies. She has recently published the report Innovations in Care: New Concepts, New Actors, New Policies and co-edited the Gender & Development issue devoted to the Sustainable Development Goals (Vol. 24, No. 1).
Valeria graduated with honours from Universidad de Buenos Aires, and earned a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of London.
