Francesca Bettio is a Senior Professor of Economics at the University of Siena, Italy. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Cambridge, UK. Her main areas of expertise include labour economics, population studies, and gender economics. As an expert on female employment and the care economy she has a long record of collaborating with the European Commission culminating with the role of lead coordinator of the European Network of Experts on Gender Equality (2007-2015) and of task coordinator of the team Scientific Analysis and Advice on Gender Equality in the EU (2015-2019). Her research interests recently widened to encompass measurement and analysis of violence against women.
