Last Hired, First Fired: Have Work Conditions Improved for People with Disabilities since COVID-19?

Think piece from David Pettinicchio shares research findings on labour market outcomes for people with disabilities throughout the Great Recession and COVID-19

In a blog post for SDGs@UofT, David Pettinicchio tracks inequalities and improvements in the labour market for people with disabilities, comparing outcomes across periods of upheaval (the Great Recession and COVID-19) as well as industry, race, class, and gender. Pettinicchio argues that having a commitment to addressing the intersections of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can combat against inequitable labor market outcomes, enabling us to collectively work towards a more just and accessible future for all.

David Pettinicchio is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Toronto, also affiliated faculty in the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
