As an Associate Professor, Director of the Housing Justice Lab, and CGSP affiliate faculty member, Prentiss Dantzler is committed to advancing housing justice through scholarship and advocacy. Here are some highlights of his work from this past summer:
- Dr. Dantzler presented a paper at the International Planning History Society entitled, By Manager Request: The Impact of Racial Surveillance and Administrative Discretion on Eviction Rates in Early Atlanta Public Housing in July 2026 in Atlanta, Georgia. This paper was also presented during the Governing Space panel organized by the Community and Urban Sociology Section at the American Sociological Association in New York, NY.
- Dr. Dantzler served on the Race and Gentrification panel during The Sociology of Race and Space Mini Conference at the American Sociological Association. This pre-conference was co-organized by the Community and Urban Sociology Section and the Section on Racial and Ethnic Minorities in order to bridge the gap between understanding space and society.
- The Housing Justice Lab at the University of Toronto has launched a new research partnership with Yonge Street Mission to study service-integrated and mixed-income housing models across Canada, informing the development and evaluation of YSM’s ELEV8 initiative and generating evidence to advance more affordable, supportive housing approaches. - Dr Dantzler will serve on a panel at an upcoming launch for Dr. Anna Kopec’s new book, Silent Struggles: How Policy Reinforces Homelessness and Political Exclusion in Ottawa, ON on Wednesday, September 9th. Register here.
