Dr. Prentiss Dantzler is a professor, urbanist, CGSP affiliate faculty member, and director of the Housing Justice Lab. He uses these multiple roles to advance the cause of housing justice inside and outside of academia.

Report on How Displacement and Chronic Under-Investment Affect Toronto’s Black-Led Community
In collaboration with the Somali Centre for Culture and Recreation, the Housing Justice Lab and Untitled Planning have released a report on the displacement of Black households around Black social infrastructure in the City of Toronto.
Webinar for the Canadian Shelter Transformation Network
Founding Director Dr. Prentiss Dantzler and Lab Research Assistant Ashley Wilkinson facilitated a webinar for the Canadian Shelter Transformation Network entitled “Same Shelter, Unequal Outcomes: Why Black Guests are Still Facing Barriers to Housing” on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Black History Forum Hosted at the University of Buffalo
Dr. Dantzler participated in a Black History Forum as a part of the School of Architecture and Planning Public Programs series at the University at Buffalo. The panel, “Reimagining Black Futures during the Age of Authoritarianism: One Hundred Years of Celebrating Black History” was held on February 4, 2026.
Supporting The Daily Bread Food Bank
The Lab is supporting The Daily Bread Food Bank in the recruitment of volunteers for the 26th annual Who’s Hungry survey with Toronto food bank about their experiences with food insecurity.
Towards Housing Justice: A Conversation with Dr. Prentiss Dantzler
Dr. Dantzler appeared on the On The Way Home podcast hosted by Blue Door to discuss how discrimination continues to appear in contemporary housing markets, the uneven impacts of displacement on low-income and racialized communities, and the ways residents are reclaiming space through community organizing. He also shares the structural shifts needed to move toward true housing justice and reflects on what gives him hope as the movement grows across cities.
